Gram flour

Since our grand-mothers time we know that gram flour (Besan) is used for face packs. Women in many parts of Indiaregularly used a face pack made by mixing gram flour with turmeric. This is believed to have the ability to remove the excess hair on the face, particularly around the mouth and chin. It also helps in getting a smooth and flawless skin.

Mix equal amounts of gram flour and turmeric with a little water to make a thick paste. Apply this paste on the face, leave on until it dries totally and then with a cloth dipped in warm water rub off this face mask.

How To Shave Your Legs

How To Shave Your Legs. Hot pants, micro minis and teeny bikinis. Great for hot weather, but bad for hairy legs! Thankfully, there's a solution: master barber techniques that elevate the simple act of wet shaving … to an art form. Expert Danielle Malka shows us how to get the smoothest legs through shaving.

STEP 1: PREP YOUR SKIN

It's a lot easier to shave after you've taken a bath or shower. If you don't want to feel any stubble hours after your shave, don't skip this step.

STEP 2: OIL UP

Lightly massage pre-shave oil onto your legs. The pre-shave oil creates a layer of protection between your skin and your razor. By coating every single hair, the oil will allow the razor to glide easily.

STEP 3: BRUSH UP

Run your brand-new shaving brush under a warm tap or soak the bristles in warm water. Shake out the excess water and then gently dip the tip into a pot of quality shaving cream.

STEP 4: LATHER UP

Starting at your ankle, travel upwards while working the brush in small circular motions. Using light pressure, the foam will build into a rich lather and should end up feeling like whipped cream.

STEP 5: A LIGHT HAND

Beginning at the base of your leg with light pressure, slowly shave upwards against the grain of your hair growth.
Rinse your blade. Don't cheat on this step either-hairs caught in the blade will only undermine the next shaving pass.

STEP 6: SOOTHE YOUR SKIN

Rinse and dry your legs. Using your pre-shave oil as your moisturizer adds a bit of sheen and softens skin for maximum comfort.

Underarm Waxing VS Shaving

There’s nothing worse than a hairy armpit...yikes! The underarm is the one area women should make sure is a clean sweep, "no hair." Waxed armpits, also known as the "Hollywood Underarm," have become very popular, and is now considered a part of women's maintenance these days.
Frequent shaving underneath the armpit may cause hair to grow in thicker, darker and coarse, which may also lead to additional shaving with dark discolored armpits, and ingrown hairs. Waxing underneath the arm is very beneficial; it's proven to lighten up the armpit area over time. While shaving just takes hair off the surface, waxing pulls the hair from the follicle, which helps to exfoilate dead skin cells and cut down on perspiration. Because the hair is being pulled from the follicle, it slows down the hair growth tremendously and causes armpits to lighten up from exfoliating.
Over a period of time you will begin to see your armpits lighten up, and hair will begin to grow in a pattern and sparsely, not thick and darker as it does when shaving. Summer time is coming, and the last thing you need is to be caught with your arms up in the air with a bush or dark spotting underneath. All ladies, if they don’t already, should make this a part of your weekly maintenance.

6 effective hair removal methods to get rid of unwanted facial hair

Unwanted hair especially on the face can be a major concern for women. Called hirsutism, it usually affects women from the age of 18-45 years. Though there are several options available these days, it still is a burning problem for several ladies. It makes them conscious of their appearance and can even lead to low self-esteem as they are often mocked for their facial hair. But experts believe that this condition can be controlled by adopting simple measures. Here are a few of them.

Drink spearmint tea

The reason behind excess hair growth is the increased level of male hormones in the blood (androgens). Although all women produce androgens, increased levels could lead to hirsutism,’ says Dr Navin Taneja, director of the National Skin Centre. He advises drinking spearmint tea twice a day for five days. This will help reduce the male hormones in your body which will lead to lesser hair growth.

Apply natural, home-made face packs

You may wonder if any face pack could help get rid of facial hair but the truth is, it does. When there were no beauty parlours, Indian women resorted to home remedies for solutions to common skin problems and one of them was excessive facial hair. The only thing you need to keep in mind is, as with any other treatment, you will have to stick to the routine to see good results.

Make a paste of gram flour (besan), curd (dahi) and a pinch of turmeric powder (haldi). Apply this on the facial growth, let the paste dry and then wash your face with water. This can be a part of your daily routine. Regular use will help lessen the growth says Dr Taneja.
Another face pack recommended by beauty expert Shahnaz Hussain is using a mixture of lemon and honey. ‘Mix 10 ml of lemon juice and 40 ml honey. Apply it in the direction of the hair growth with the help of a cotton swab and rinse after 15 minutes,’ she advises. Repeat this routine twice a week for two weeks to see results. A slight variation to this remedy is using a paste made of 30g of sugar, 10 ml of freshly squeezed lemon juice and 150 ml of water.
